“Parade”

Despite being mainly shot in video (Tati had anticipated the gradual switch to digital) and financed by the Swedish television, Parade was nevertheless made to be screened in cinemas, although this film, which was to be his last, is essentially a tribute to the performing arts. In his portrayal of a Monsieur Loyal who ensures that there is a smooth change-over between circus acts, Tati revives the “sporting impressions” he used to perform at the music hall.
