The Academy of Film & Multimedia Marubi invites you to the screenings of "German October" from the 5th to the 9th of October 2009, every day at 6.15 p.m.

With the program of films and discussions "Changes of time - Transformation of the system", The Foundation Friedrich-Ebert will touch debates and contradictions, exactly with five german films, which treat the topic of the GDR and its transformation after 1990. After every screening will be a discussion. How was life during dictatorship? What was the influence of the system on the lives of individuals and families? What are the point of views of today on time of communism ? During the discussions will be also treated the parallels and changes betweens two countries in transformation like Albania and Germany.

HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE LOWLANDS @ AFMM

The “Highlights from the Lowlands” film festival, held in Tirana from 18 - 23 September 2009, presents several recent Dutch movies, documentaries and shorts that give the Albanian audience good insight into Dutch culture, landscapes and cinematography. All feature-length films are preceded by a short film.

18 Sept: The Polish Bride (romantic drama)

19 Sept: Duska (drama)

20 Sept: Black Book (WW2)

21 Sept: Carmen meets Borat (documentary)

22 Sept: Skin (drama)

23 Sept: Simon (comedy)

Screenings take place at the Academy of Film & Multimedia Marubi, and start at 19:30. Admission is free and all films are subtitled in both Albanian and English.

Twenty leading creators from the fields of film directing,

writing, acting, production, distribution and education met

with José Manuel Barroso, President of the European

Commission, to exchange their views on the impact that

images and cinema have on the identity of Europe and the

way Europeans identify with their home continent.

SAVE AFMM ONLINE PETITION REACHED 1244 SIGNATURES

Resolution of SAVEAFMM Petition Point 1:

Measures have been taken against some police authorities, who violated the Constitution of

Albania regarding the AFMM campus destruction, and committed violence against Academic Personnel, students, artists and supporters.

Resolution of SAVEAFMM Petition Point 3:

After corruption and power abuse scandal was revealed at TopChannels Fiks-Fare,

Minister Pango was immediately sacked by PM Berisha.

The scandal was revealed the day after a strong debate at a TV show, between Rector

Cashku and ex-minister Pango.

A defamation suit was deposited today at Tirana Prosecution Office, after the televised debate.

We are waiting to see point two become a reality as well...
